June 2008

Our relationship with Julie and Mark, actually started about 2 years ago with another couple, Christie and Mike. We shot their wedding, and one of their bridesmaids became one of our brides last year. (A wedding in Jamaica!) A bridesmaid that was in both of those weddings, referred us to Julie and Mark. (So…I think that’s like twice removed referral?…I’m bad with the family tree visualizations.) Anyway, it was a cool story and is fun to draw out with little stick people. I must say it’s an awesome display of my artistic talent…

Their wedding was an intimate, wedding at their home in Eudora, Kansas. The storms held out until the end of our day, and made for wonderful light. Julie and Mark, as individuals, are both energizing and incredible to be around. We often got lost talking about everything beyond photography. As a couple, they compliment each other perfectly and unselfishly give themselves to those around them.

The monogram identity that you’ll see engraved on the paver stone, was actually one that we designed for their postcard invitation. (Image of that to follow.) It was so cool to see it used in this media, as it seemed to take it from logo to historical landmark. Hoola hoops, bubbles, and games also made their appearance during the reception. Here are a few images from their day; hope you enjoy! )

(I’d never even heard of a ‘gator’ before, but I was stoked to hope in the back; what a memorable trip to the ceremony site!)

(Mother of the Bride was quite the hoola hoop champ!)

(Ah, the sweet taste of sidewalk chalk.)

(As Mark is a landscape designer, this was his own crop of trees that he grows for clients. There were some beautiful ones that wouldn’t fit in our car that day, but I wanted to snag some. ;-)

For your viewing pleasure, here are some long-overdue shots of mounted albums we offer. These are thick pages, either white or black, that are mounted with photographs. (Usually matte in finish, with a few metallic prints where they seem to fit.) The ones shown are patterned, silk fabric but there are also several fun leathers, animal-friendly, faux leathers, and even some that look like white snakeskin. (Should the need arise! ;-) These are 8″x8″ albums, but there are several other sizes. We also offer printed, coffeetable style books. All of our layouts are custom, and designed in-house. (‘Oval’ or ‘Heart’ shaped cut-outs are casually forbidden.)
